SUMMARY:Overview of Cybersecurity Threats & Ways to Minimize Risks
DESCRIPTION:(Virtual Zoom) \nSession Description \nLawmakers introduced the Healthcare Cybersecurity Act of 2022 to improve cybersecurity across healthcare organizations. This act encourages cybersecurity training for the healthcare sector. Healthcare organizations have different specialized information systems\, such as electronic health record systems\, etc.\, and increasingly adopt the Internet of Medical Things\, such as internet-enabled medical equipment and devices\, to improve patient care and accessibility to care. So\, it is vital to protect data\, the confidentiality of patient information\, and technologies that play critical roles in revolutionizing healthcare from unauthorized access. Furthermore\, the current crisis in Ukraine can potentially increase the cyberattack risks in the healthcare industry. \nIn 2021\, healthcare attacks hit 45 million individuals\, up from 34 million in 2020 (Landi\, 2022). According to an IBM report\, the average cost of a healthcare data breach (average breach size of 25\,575 records) is $15 million in the United States (She et al\, 2020). Cyberattacks make a weighty cost\, including the loss of revenue\, regulatory fines\, litigation\, ransom paid\, the expense of response and recovery\, reputation of the organization\, and loss of public trust. Also\, cyberattacks compromise patient safety\, quality of care\, and outcomes due to hospital equipment and devices connected to the Internet. Therefore\, proactive cybersecurity\, starting with security awareness training and security practices\, is the top priority and saves healthcare organizations from data breaches. \nReferences: \nLandi\, H. SUMMARY:Impact of Michigan No-Fault Auto Insurance Reform
DESCRIPTION:Session description and objectives: \nNumerous public policy and legislative issues around healthcare delivery and public health affect healthcare organizations and demand the involvement of their leaders to respond and adjust organizational policies and procedures. \nOn “May 30\, 2019\, Governor Whitmer signed historic bipartisan no-fault auto insurance reform legislation (Public Acts 21 and 22 of 2019) to provide insurance coverage options\, and lower rates for Michigan drivers while maintaining the highest benefits in the country\, and strengthening consumer protections.” https://www.michigan.gov/autoinsurance/0\,9555\,7-405-96983_96984—\,00.html These changes took effect July 1st\, 2020. \nMichigan had the highest auto insurance benefits and had the highest costs since unlimited Personal Injury Protection (PIP) medical Mandatory benefits were mandatory. Not everyone could afford the unlimited coverage so many were driving uninsured. With the new law\, drivers could reduce their premiums for the medical portion of PIP by relying on their own health insurance for their medical bills or they could continue with unlimited lifetime PIP medical benefits. \nAlthough the new law has permitted drivers to save on insurance\, it has caused many additional challenges for healthcare providers and legal experts to provide quality care for patients impacted by automotive-related injuries. \nLearning about the impact of these changes and being involved in policy and organizational responses is important for healthcare leaders\, regardless of how directly they may be involved. This session will examine some of the challenges of caring for patients with automotive-related injuries. \nObjectives for this session include: \n* Overview of the higher-level changes to Michigan No-Fault Auto Insurance \n* Explore the impact on a broad range of care providers and their legal advocates \n* Understand the challenges for patients in coordinating and receiving care \n* Impact of the changes on families and caregivers \n* Current efforts and potential for future changes in legislation \nModerator: Gerald Paulovich\, Esq.\, Partner\, Anthony\, Paulovich & Worrall\, leading legal voice for medical provider advocacy \nPanelists: \nTiffany Youngs-Bokas\, Chief Operating Officer\, Kennedy Care\, Ann Arbor\, a home care agency serving hundreds of clients\, including those catastrophically injured since January 2022. \nOwen Perlman\, MD\, Associate in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation\, P.C.\, Board-Certified specialist in Physical medicine and rehabilitation. He also serves as Medical Director for Post-Acute Residential and Outpatient Traumatic Bran Injury Programs including Rainbow Rehabilitation Center\, Resilient Life Center\, and Resilire Neuro Rehab \nWayne Miller\, Esq.\, Miller and Tischler\, P.C. and Adjunct Professor\, Wayne State University with a focus on Automobile No-Fault Insurance since 1998. \nTime: Noon – 1:30 p.m. (Virtual Zoom) \nFees: \n$25 – MCACHE Member \n$35 – Non-Member \n$10 – Student \n{Earn 1.5 ACHE Face-to-Face credits} \n*You must attend the entire time to earn the credits. \n  \nRegistering for this program is a two-step process: \n1) Purchase a ticket through Constant Contact: https://conta.cc/3kXU1Ma \n  \n2) You must register on the ACHE platform to have access to the login credentials and credits. SUMMARY:Understanding Implicit Bias and Its Impact on Health Care Leadership
DESCRIPTION:The communities in which healthcare organizations operate are rapidly diversifying. Not only do they provide care for a diverse community of patients and families\, but their workforce is also growing more diverse. It is incumbent on healthcare organizations and their leaders to both understand and embrace the needs of diverse populations. Their ability to respond to the needs and preferences of a broader customer base will be critical to their financial and operational survival\, but they first must understand what their implicit biases are to do that. The goal of the session is for leaders to understand and recognize internal biases both conscious and unconscious. This new program will focus on the healthcare leader’s personal recognition of internal bias and its impact on decisions in the organization. The impact of the healthcare leaders’ ability to recognize biases in areas such as employment and policy decision-making will lead to increased diversity in individuals holding leadership positions and will help to better serve the community. \nModerator \nJacob Sierocki\, MBA\, BSA\, CPC-A\, Project Manager\, Practice Solutions\, and President Pride Employee Resource Group\, Henry Ford Health System \nPanelists \nDenise Williams\, Ph.D.\, MS\, SPHR\, SHRM-SCP\, Organizational Effectiveness Consultant and DEI Implementation\, Human Resources\, Michigan Medicine \nJacquie Munson-Gaines\, MBA\, WBE\, EDWOSB\, MBN\, President\, and CEO\, JMG Connects \nJan Harrington-Davis\, MCBA\, CLRP\, Vice President Talent Acquisition\, EEO-Diversity\, and Workforce Solutions\, Henry Ford Health System \nFees: \n$25 – MCACHE Member \n$35 – Non-Member \n$10 – Student \n{Earn 1.5 ACHE Face-to-Face credits} \n*You must attend the entire time to earn the credits. \nRegistering for this program is a two-step process: \n\n1) Purchase a ticket through Constant Contact \nhttps://conta.cc/3Mr8g8k  \n2) You must register on the ACHE platform to have access to the login credentials and credits.
