The next Community Engagement event will be on Saturday, May 7, 2022, from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, and MCACHE will be partnering with Focus: HOPE to package food boxes for those in need within the surrounding Metro Detroit area.
The Food Box Packing activity will consist of opening stacked boxes of inventory and setting up the stock in carts to put in Focus: Hope boxes. As the boxes move down the assembly line, volunteers fill the boxes from the carts of prepared stock; volunteers will stack the full boxes on pallets to prepare for delivery and pick up. Each full box is approximately 35lbs and participants should prepare long periods of active moving/standing and lifting, bending, carrying, and squatting.
As there are moderate physical activity expectations for this event, please dress comfortably and wear comfortable shoes (No open-toe shoes, jogging pants, shorts, tank tops/sleeveless shirts). Focus: HOPE will provide gloves on-site, but it is helpful if participants bring their own work or gardening gloves to protect their hands from rough surfaces/dust. There is limited storage space in the volunteer office area, please leave personal items in your vehicle. Lastly, face coverings/masks are required for this event and if you are not feeling well or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days, please stay home.
We look forward to seeing you at this event!
