Time: 12:00pm – 1:30pm (EST)

Precision medicine holds great promise for improving the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of many diseases. Advances in precision medicine have already led to powerful new discoveries and several new treatments that are tailored to specific characteristics. Theranostics is the combination of imaging and therapy designed for specific types of cancer as an alternative or collaboration to traditional treatment options. As the number of effective theranostic procedures grows, more patients are being assessed for tumor burden; indeed, theranostic experts believe these will become the standard procedure for other diseases. However, many challenges are being faced, including the increasing cost of theranostics, as well as regulatory, infrastructure, and logistical issues. This panel will explore the promise and perils of precision medicine focused on theranostics.
